Schedule of Activites
Level – Beginning
Length – 60 minutes
Accompanist – ipod
Genre – Ballet
Objectives for this specific class:
1. Students will learn elements of the barre
Plié, tend u, deggage, rom de sham, battement,
2. Students will learn specifics of a few moving element of ballet
----Pique’s
(each class would focus on another element, pas de sha, balancé, etc)
3. Students will incorporate both elements of the barre and the learned moving element in combinations
5 potential corrections or redirections you will most likely use in this class.
Splayed rib cage
-Imagine the ribs knitting together
-think of the belly button connecting to the spine
-your rib cage is like a bird’s wings at rest coming in and down softly and disappearing into the rest of its body/Or sails of a ship, relaxed and down
-relax the tailbone down
-pretend you have a weight on the bottom of your tailbone
Pronating knees-
-think of the muscles of your hips spiraling all the way down the leg,
-ask students to take their hands and spiral them down your legs-this is is the direction that your muscles work when everything is aligned
Collapsing the arches
- Imagine a thick juicy orange wedge underneath the arches of your feet that you don’t want to squish.
Closed off/ hunched shoulders
- imagine you are carrying two bowls on your shoulders and you cant let them spill
- you have arrows coming out of your collar bone, you want them to point to the sides of the room, not the front
legs coming out of line -
your hip is like a bold and your leg is the wrench
of the hips
-it only tightens if the bolt stays in place while the wrench moves
