20 MINUTES PHRASEWORK
teach a short phrase
split students into groups of 3 and give different movement qualities for them to embody
Your assignment is to take this movement and make it something new.
1.) Movement quality= Balletic graceful, beautiful, lengthened, light.

Students will explore the different elements of dance styles and learn to embody different qualities to change a style of movement.

students do not understand the movement they have been given: ask students what a dancer of the style they have been given looks like, ask for movement quality words fromeach group member and encourage them to keep exploring those qualities
